Brandi Maclaren

“Once constantly being sick, overweight, and tired became more than I could stand, I decided to do something about it. I started looking for answers—and boy, I found them. What I found has completely changed my life. Now  almost 7 years later, I no longer have to worry about being overweight and tired. I have come alive not just physically but mentally as well. I decided that if I could feel this good, I wanted to help others feel amazing as well—so I hit the books.

Now, as a personal trainer, I am able to do just that. The goal is to help people, like you, take control of your health, and therefore your life—to lift you up, so you can reach your full potential. The goal is to encourage and stand by you, so you are proud of the life you are living and the steps you are taking everyday. Together we will accomplish all of your goals; and when you reach every single one of them, we will set new ones. Lets fly!”

One Year ago, 11/11/14, I quit smoking cigarettes for good, started a Plant Based Lifestyle (no dairy, no meat) and started working out like a Beast.  It all started when my friend, Brandi MacLaren (Personal trainer/Plant Based Nutritionist) challenged me to a 30 day Plant Based Challenge. My Journey had been moving me in this direction my whole life, but it took a friend to push me into a Leap of Faith—leap I did, all the way in, and decided to quit smoking cigarettes at the same time. I called it, “My Body is a Temple Plant Based Challenge.” Little did I know at the time, I would find the strength inside to reach my Full Potential and remove the obstacles that kept me from that reality.

Who would’ve thought a change in diet could change your life? When I made the decision to become a plant-based vegan, I was excited, but I never realized just how this decision would be a catalyst for dramatic change in my life!  I didn’t know it would also change my mental, emotional, spiritual health. It literally changed my life’s direction!

I have to be honest and say that my association with healthy eating used to be extremely negative. I associated it with discouragement, ineffective effort, and negative self-talk. I truly didn’t believe anything could work. Growing up, my mom and aunts were always jumping into new diets. Their very definition of a diet was “die with a ‘T.’” Every time they tried a new diet they would lose weight, get really excited, go off of it, and then gain all the weight back that they had lost. Because their excitement about losing weight was so exponential, their discouragement after gaining the weight back was monumental. This communicated a very negative message to me about eating healthy—eating healthy is something that’s too hard to make last, and ultimately results in disappointment.
